| Cover and saddle bag - 240 gms: A cover is often useful, especially when travelling on public transport. The zip-up Brompton Cover is quick to fit or remove and can be drawn tight around the base of the bike using its draw-cord. The cover fits in the saddle bag. $45 |
Touch-up paint: Small 10ml packs of paint, with brush-in-cap, are available for each of the colours in the Brompton range. $12 |
Handlebar cross-bar - 100gms extra: The handlebars on the Brompton are aluminium, which has a finite fatigue life. With the material we specify, the risk of failure is extremely low, and the bars exceed by a wide margin the requirements laid down by various Standards. Nonetheless, for complete safety, we recommend that aluminium parts, including handlebars, are replaced at regular intervals, especially on bikes that are ridden hard. An alternative, for bikes equipped with the standard Brompton handlebar, is to fit the Brompton crossbar, which reduces the stresses at the centre, and almost completely eliminates any risk of failure. |
