Next on the tour we have the lighweight frame and parts options. Choosing all the lighweight goodies will add an 'X' postfix to your model name. So our S2L with titanium rear frame, fork, seat post and pedal axle would become a S2L-X.

Titanium rear triangle.

On all Bromptons, steel is used for the main frame and handlebar stem. It's steel that gives the rigidity to the vital link between handlebar and pedals, the key to good handling. On a standard frame, the steel rear section can be upgraded to a titanium version to reduce weight. As this is a weight reducing excercise, the rear triangle has no provision for the Brompton pump.

Titanium front forks.

On a superlight frame, the addition of the titanium parts has the added bonus of springiness, a quality that only titanium provides.

Further weight savings include an alloy headset and titanium stays for the mudguard set.

Titanium seat post and pedal axle.

The surface treatment on the seatpost gives a deep blue hue which softens with use. The titanium seatpost is available in standard, long and telescopic lengths, just like the classic range.

The pedal axle is only a small weight saving but still worthwhile. The pedal has a much improved balance with the lighter axle fitted.
